Parking in downtown Clayton, GA

The short answer

The City of Clayton publishes no downtown parking page: no lot map, no meters or fees and no on-street time limits. On Ramshackle day in June 2026 it asked drivers to follow signs to public parking areas and not to park on the street or sidewalks. Obey posted signs, and on festival and parade days allow extra time.

This page lists only what the City, the county or an organizer publishes, with a link to each source. Where nothing is published, we say so rather than guess. Downtown is small: most shops and restaurants are within about 300 meters of the Main and Savannah Street signal.

Public parking

On the street

  • The City of Clayton website publishes no downtown on-street parking rules: no time limits, meters, permit zones or enforcement hours. This research did not check the city’s code of ordinances.
  • For Ramshackle (June 2026) the City asked visitors not to park on the street, on the sidewalk or next to a no-parking sign, and to use the signed public parking areas instead. That was an event-day request, not a published everyday rule.
  • Obey posted signs and curb markings. This guide does not claim any time limit or fee that the City has not published.

Accessible parking

  • The City of Clayton publishes no downtown accessible-parking map or accessible-space counts. Source
  • Black Rock Mountain State Park’s Black Rock Lake loop is described by Georgia State Parks as gently rolling and rated easy; Georgia State Parks keeps a separate site-accessibility page for each park. Source

Event days

  • Ramshackle street festival (Sat., June 6, 2026): On the eve of Ramshackle the City posted: ‘Parking is always a question so please follow the parking signs or arrows or refer to the map for all the public parking areas. Please be courteous, don’t block anyone in, don’t park on the street, the sidewalk, next to a no parking sign or any other place that isn’t meant for parking.’ The map it mentions is not posted on the City website. • Annual Christmas Parade (Sat., Dec. 5, 2026, 6 p.m.): The City’s Oct. 13, 2026 news post sets the parade for Saturday, December 5th at 6pm in downtown Clayton (entry deadline Nov. 30). It gives no route, street-closure times or parking plan; ask City Hall at (706) 782-4512. Source
  • North Georgia Highland Games (Sept. 26, 2026, Rabun County Civic Center): The CMBA’s event page, citing the event FAQ, said parking was free in designated areas with free all-day parking throughout the downtown area, and asked guests to use approved spots. Main gate: 201 W Savannah St. The event has passed; it shows how downtown parking is handled for a large event, not a standing rule. Source

Questions

Where do I park in downtown Clayton?

Use the signed public parking areas. The City of Clayton does not publish a year-round downtown parking guide, but for big events it posts signs, arrows and a map pointing to public lots. On Ramshackle day in 2026 it asked drivers not to park on the street, on sidewalks or next to no-parking signs, and not to block anyone in. See our parking page for details.
